Mourning Among the Fireflies Reprise

You stood tall in all black

Mourning among the fireflies

And let them condemn you

For everything they turned you into

All this time I watched the rot

Decompose your loving soul

Not a word from the jury or the judge

Curse of a conspiratorial grudge

I stand, a simple woman,

My greed in my belly, my heart

In my throat, blood all down the front

Of my chest, you left me on read,

But I'd fly down the gravel road

And into your broken bones

Five thousand times until

It wakes you from your empty slumber

And your lips part

With the breath of a dying man's fight

In the blue-green light of

A meaningless night.
